SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION IN A LAYMAN'S PERSPECTIVE

Money
What is a search engine in the world of internet.Users of internet when, want to find any information about a subject, have to make use a search engine to get the information displayed in his monitor.Google, Yahoo, MSN, Ask, Bing are a few of the search engines available today. These search engines do this work in three parts.First they crawl all the site/blogs past and present to gather information from them. Secondly all the information so gathered by the crawler is indexed and stored for further use. When any internet user asks for a subject by typing a 'word' or 'a phrase of words' in the search engine ,these are called 'keywords', it displays the information required, from what it has stored already. So to update itself the search engine crawls the word wide internet daily and stores information. The owner for a site/blog can direct the crawler, for Google it is called 'googlebot', to revisit his site/blog after a specified timeframe set out in the 'meta tags' added in the 'HTML' of his site/blog. He can also allow the 'googlebot' to 'follow' or 'no follow' any outgoing links from his site/blog.
So to get the information you add to your site/blog to get indexed by the search engine, you have to make your site/blog 'likeable' to the search engine. This process is known as 'Search engine optimization'. The optimization process involves several steps.
1]The site/blog should have original articles written and they should be very specific to the site/blogs.The engine doesn't like duplicate matter and your site/blog may get rejected by it.So write the posts as original as possible and relevant to your site/blogs subject.
2]Choose a 'niche' subject to your site/blog.If you choose a very general subject, you may find yourself way behind in the list of sites/blogs in that category. The position that your site/blog has in that list is known as 'page rank'.The higher the page rank, your site/blog gets to be displayed before others.
3]If you have a site/blog already, than you have to concentrate on the best 'keyword', that will bring the internet users, also known as 'traffic', to be used in your 'keyword mete tags' in the HTML of your site/blog.Use Google Adwords, word tracker, keyword country, keyword discovery and Niche Horde  software to research your keywords.

4]The keyword used in the HTML of your site/blog has to have a relation to the posts you write. If the keyword and the posts are different your site/blog may get rejected. So be careful in adding the number of keywords to your meta tags.In case you have a lot of keywords, than make sure that you write posts relevant to all the keywords.Having lot of keywords not specific to the subject matter, will not enhance your page rank.
5]The engine loves 'links' to your site/blog from other sources. Since the links allow the engine to find new information. So get links with 'keyword rich anchor links' from others. The more inward links to your site/blog, your page rank will go up.To build links you visit other sites/blogs in your niche subject and leave a comment with a link to your site/blog.The services of 'link builders' can also be considered. Free traffic system is one.

6]Make sure 'keywords' are present in the title, paragraph headings and in article body. The no of keywords should not be more than 2-3 percent of the total number of words the article has.
7]Keep your site/blog simple and neat. Don't clutter with all sorts of widgets.Monetize in a simple manner. The engine has to crawl your site/blog with ease.Provide internal links to other posts in your site/blog, so as to enable the engine to visit the other posts also.Have a good sitemap.
